The BPP Legal Awareness Society is the sister society of the BPP Legal Awareness Society. It has a different perspective of commercial law – from the commercial client’s perspective. I have been attending meetings of the BPP Commercial Awareness Society, and I have always thought that the Commercial Awareness Society has been brilliant for raising ‘commercial awareness’, a much sought-after skill in legal trainees in both City and high-street firms. As it happens, I am a huge fan of the BPP Commercial Awareness Society, and the excellent work that Sonia Goodman and her committee have been doing this year.
Despite having a smaller membership than the BPP Commercial Awareness Society, the BPP Legal Awareness Society, based at BPP Law School, Holborn, has very much complementary aims.

I am writing to invite you to our ‘commercial awareness workshops’, aka “Commercial January”. All members of the BPP Legal Awareness Society and BPP Commercial Awareness Society can attend (i.e. you don’t necessarily have to become a member of the BPP Legal Awareness Society to attend).
These workshops are as follows – I am still waiting on room bookings at Holborn for the precise room, but they will be held at 6.15 pm (to 7.15 pm)

These workshops will be at Masters level. I myself did a MBA at the BPP Business School and LLM in international commercial law at College of Law, and these workshops are supposed to provide a detailed but interesting introduction to key components of business administration. They therefore provide a perfect backdrop to you developing your ‘commercial awareness’ acumen.

We also have permission to invite a limited number of law students from outside BPP, but this has to be cleared with security here at Holborn and the BPP Students Association well in advance. If you should like to invite someone (or if you wish to attend yourself), please do let me know as soon as possible (which date, and number of guest(s)). Please note that any request to attend any of these workshops will be treated as ‘exceptional requests’ in that the Law School has very effective security at reception (which is necessary becaused it is located in the middle of London, map here).
